ECP4 Welcomes RISE as a New Member, Boosting European Leadership in Sustainable Polymers and Composites

 In News & events

The European Composites, Plastics, and Polymer Processing Platform (ECP4) is proud to welcome RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden – as a new member. This addition reinforces ECP4’s commitment to fostering innovation, sustainability, and industrial transformation across the European polymer and composites landscape.

RISE: A National Resource Driving Innovation in Sustainability

RISE is Sweden’s national research institute and innovation partner, with nearly 3,300 employees supporting the transition from research to real-world applications. As a state-owned entity, RISE plays a key role in developing sustainable, competitive solutions for the industry through applied research, testing, certification, and education.

With an extensive network of over 130 test and demo environments, RISE offers cutting-edge infrastructures for product and process development, with capabilities in thermoplastic and thermoset processing, textile fibre manufacturing, and chemical and mechanical recycling. Its work in polymer durability, life cycle analysis, and standardisation supports circular economy strategies aligned with ECP4’s vision.

Pioneering Sustainable Solutions in Polymer Processing

RISE’s strong focus on circularity and its collaborative model across European research projects such as ABSoleu, BioSusTex, Zevra, and AMBIANCE highlight its strengths in materials innovation, digitalisation, and low-impact manufacturing. Whether through pilot-scale testing of recycling methods or supporting bio-based alternatives, RISE enables industries to meet environmental and economic challenges.

We are very pleased to welcome RISE to ECP4,” said Bertrand Fillon, ECP4 President. “RISE’s systemic approach to sustainability, combined with its impressive infrastructure and deep technical knowledge, will significantly enhance our network’s capacity to deliver innovation across the polymer value chain.”
